Watching Corbyn's victory live in a cafe in Bristol

Watching Corbyn's victory live in a cafe in Bristol

I was lucky to get a seat in the Door and Rivet early on. Within half an hour the small cafe in Bristol was heaving. The event had been advertised on FaceBook and the numbers steadily grew. There were around 150 people crammed in the cafe waiting for the Labour leadership results. Last year I watched the results at home, but this time I was sitting in a cafe along with all these people, the atmosphere buzzing, all collectively anticipating a Corbyn win. Even with the number of suspended and disallowed from voting, Corbyn won comfortably. Once the results were announced a loud cheer reverberated around the cafe. There were many young people in the room, all enthused by Jeremy's win. Only a month ago, hundreds turned up here in Bristol to listen to him, again the atmosphere buzzing and enthusiastic. Politics seems to be evolving from below, echoing Corbyn's style, producing a coherent dynamic movement. Hopefully, this time next year, we won' t need to be watching Jeremy going though a leadership contest once again
